The previously announced musical adaptation of the hit movie Ghost will have a limited run at Manchester's Opera House from March 28 to May 14, 2011. Ghost the Musical will then transfer to London's West End. No casting has been announced for the production. Tony winner Matthew Warchus will direct the show, which features a score from Glen Ballard and The Eurthymics' Dave Stewart with Bruce Joel Rubin adapting his Oscar-winning script.
Ghost a romantic fantasy about young couple Sam and Molly. When Sam is murdered, he finds himself trapped as a ghost between this world and the next and unable to leave Molly who he learns is in grave danger. With the help of a phony storefront psychic Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of protecting her. The 1990 film starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture as well as wins for Goldberg and its screenplay.
The musical will feature set and costume designs are by Rob Howell, musical supervision and arrangements by Christopher Nightingale, illusions by Paul Kieve, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Simon Baker.
