Clybourne Park, a dark comedy by American actor-turned-playwright Bruce Norris, and a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion at the Donmar Warehouse were named Best Play and Best Musical, respectively, at London’s Evening Standard Theatre Awards, presented on November 28 at the Savoy Hotel. Clybourne Park (first produced by Playwrights Horizons in spring 2010) will transfer to Wyndham’s Theatre in the West End in January 2011 for a commercial run. Passion, starring Elena Roger as Fosca, closed on November 27.
The Best Actor prize went to Rory Kinnear for the playing the title role in Hamlet and Angelo in Measure for Measure. Best Actress went to Nancy Carroll for After the Dance. A complete list of winners follows:
