Charlie Bruce, recent champ of the BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance, will step into the role of Baby in the London stage adaptation of Dirty Dancing for a week of holiday performances, December 20-24. Bruce joined the Dirty Dancing cast in September 2010 in the ensemble role of Gina and Baby understudy. The show, which continues its run at the Aldwych Theatre, represents her West End debut.
Dirty Dancing is based on the beloved 1987 film starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze as Baby and Johnny, two fiercely independent young people from different worlds who come together at a Catskills resort for what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives. The show's musical hits include "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby" and the Academy Award-winning "I've Had The Time of My Life."
The current cast of Dirty Dancing, which features Hannah Vassallo as Baby Houseman and Johnny Wright as Johnny Castle, also includes Ray Quinn, Jessica Brooks, Nadia Coote, Antony Edridge, Paul Gilmore, Maxine Gregory, Caroline Haines, Richard Hope, Christopher Kinneston, Maurice Lane, James Leece, Richard Lloyd King, Hillary Maclean, Joyce Springer and Russell Walker.
