The Chichester Festival Theatre's revival of Caryl Churchill's Top Girls will transfer to the West End's Trafalgar Studios beginning August 5. Opening night is set for August 16. Directed by Max Stafford-Clark, the limited engagement will run through October 15.
The cast includes Stella Gonet (Isabella Bird/Joyce/Mrs. Kidd), Suranne Jones (Marlene), Catherine McCormack (Lady Nijo/Win), Lucy Briers (Pope Joan/Louise), Laura Elphinstone (Patient Griselda/Nell), Lisa Kerr (Waitress/Kit/Shona) and Olivia Poulet (Dull Gret/Angie/Jeanie).
Top Girls follows Marlene, a go-getter business woman in Thatcher-era England who hosts a dinner party to celebrate her promotion at Top Girls Employment Agency. The party's guests include various powerful women from myth and history, kicking off a provocative study of success and what happens to those who get left behind. The Chichester production opened in June at the Minerva Theatre, where it will run through July 16.
