West End's Yes, Prime Minister Extends; Transfers to Gielgud Theatre

West End comedy Yes, Prime Minister has added eight weeks of performances to its schedule. The production, which was originally scheduled to close on September 17 at the Apollo Theatre, will transfer to the Gielgud Theatre on September 20 and run through November 19. Stars Richard McCabe and Simon Williams will remain with the show.

Adapted by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn from the popular TV series of the same name, Yes, Prime Minister centers on Prime Minister Jim Hacker (McCabe), Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby (Williams) and Principal Private Secretary Bernard Woolley as they face a country in financial meltdown. When the only prospect of salvation comes from morally dubious allies, the consequences are no less than comic.

Yes, Prime Minister’s initial West End run began performances on September 17, 2010, directed by Lynn. A U.K. tour followed before the show returned to the West End in July.
