Ben Deery and David Acton Join The Woman in Black on the West End

London stage veterans Ben Deery and David Acton will soon join the cast of West End thriller The Woman in Black as The Actor and Arthur Kipps, respectively. They will play their first performance in the Robin Herford-helmed piece, now in its 23rd year at the Fortune Theatre, on September 26.

The story of The Woman in Black, told in flashback, centers on a young man named Arthur Kipps who is sent to a deceased woman's house to learn more about her so her affairs can be settled. While there, he encounters a mysterious Woman in Black, and years later is still terrorized by his experiences in the house.

Deery’s stage credits include Anne Boleyn, All’s Well That Ends Well, Henry VIII, La Cage Aux Folles, Dangerous Corner and Much Ado About Nothing. Acton has been seen on the British stage in Down by the Greenwood Side, King Lear, Hamlet and The Clandestine Marriage.

The Woman in Black is based on a 1983 book by Susan Hill and was turned into a made for TV movie and the subsequent long-running play. A film adaptation starring How to Succeed and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, will be released in 2012.
