Tammy Blanchard, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Michael Chernus will join previously announced stars Cheyenne Jackson, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Krysten Ritter for MCC's benefit readings of Neil LaBute's The Heart of the Matter. Drected by Carolyn Cantor, the collection of one-acts take place at the Lucille Lortel Theatre June 13 through 16. All proceeds will support MCC’s Theater’s Playwrights’ Coalition program, free PlayLab reading series and literary development activities.
When acclaimed playwright-provocateur Neil LaBute turns his acid wit to affairs of the heart, one thing is certain…there will be blood! Passion, emotion, sexual negotiation, and infidelity all converge in this collection of recent one-act plays, each featuring a pair of lovers in crisis. The Heart of the Matter is an attempt to comprehend the true nature of love (or at least the fallout it can leave behind).
Blanchard received Tony nominations for Gypsy and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Her film and TV credits include her Emmy-winning turn in Me and My Shadows: Life With Judy Garland, Union Square, The Big C and Rabbit Hole. Eddie Kaye Thomas' off-Broadway work includes The Submission, Bachelorette and Dog Sees God. He has also appeared in the American Pie film series. Chernus'stage credits include In the Wake and The Aliens.
