Stephen Anthony and Merritt David Janes will star in the national tour of Catch Me If You Can as Frank Abagnale, Jr. and Carl Hanratty, respectively. The national tour of the Tony Award-nominated musical will launch in Providence, Rhode Island on October 7.
Written by the Tony-winning composers of Hairspray, Scott Witman and Marc Shaiman, Catch Me If You Can follows the true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr. a world-class con artist who passed himself off as a doctor, lawyer and jet pilot all before the age of 21. With straight-arrow FBI agent Carl Hanratty on Frank’s trail, the story takes off on a jet-setting, cat-and-mouse chase fueled by a jazzy '60s score that keeps the adventure in constant motion. The musical is based on the 2002 film, which was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken.
Anthony will make his national tour debut in Catch Me If You Can. The actor’s regional credits include Lend Me A Tenor, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray, Legally Blonde and Carousel. Janes was last seen in the national tour of Shrek the Musical as Lord Farquaad. His other tour credits include Sweeney Todd, Beauty and the Beast and The Wedding Singer.
Anthony and Janes will be joined by Aubrey Mae Davis (Brenda Strong), Caitlin Maloney (Paula Abagnale), Amy Burgmaier (Carol Strong) and D. Scott Withers (Roger Strong). The ensemble includes Amanda Braun, Ashley Chasteen, Taylor Collins, Vanessa Dunleavy, Michael Graceffa, Colleen Hayes, Mary Claire King, Trevor Leaderbrand, Casey Renee Rogers, Daniel J. Self, Allyson Tolbert, Nadia Vynnytsky and Bradley Allan Zarr.
