The West End production of Wicked will welcome several new cast members to the Apollo Victoria Theatre on October 29. In addition to the previously announced Louise Dearman as Elphaba, the company will welcome Ben Freeman (Fiyero), Louise Plowright (Madame Morrible), Sam Lupton (Boq), Hayley Gallivan (Standby Elphaba) and Lucy van Gasse (Standby Glinda). Original London Wicked star Katie Rowley Jones is also set to return to the role of Nessarose.
Wicked features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. Based on the acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire that re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students. Their adventures in Oz ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
