Claire Van Der Boom Replaces Julianne Nicholson in Sam Shepard’s Heartless Off-Broadway

Australian actress Claire van der Boom will join the cast of Sam Shepard's Heartless as Sally beginning September 18. Van der Boom will succeed Julianne Nicholson, whose prior commitments prevent her from performing through the production’s previously announced two-week extension. Heartless is set to play a limited engagement through September 30 at the Irene Diamond Stage at off-Broadway’s Pershing Square Signature Center.

In Heartless, Sally (van der Boom) lives with her mysterious family in a cavernous home overlooking Los Angeles. When a visitor (Gary Cole) arrives, Sally’s dark secrets—and the secrets of those around her—threaten to come into the light. In addition to van der Boom and Cole, Heartless stars Jenny Bacon, Betty Gilpin and Lois Smith. Directed by Daniel Aukin, Heartless premiered August 7 and opened officially on August 27.

Van der Boom appeared off-Broadway in An Early History of Fire. Her film and TV credits include The Pacific, Hawaii Five-0, Love My Way, East West 101 and Sisters of War.
