Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for Horton Foote’s The Old Friends, which is currently in previews at the Irene Diamond Stage in advance of a September 12 opening. The play is now scheduled to run through October 6, directed by Michael Wilson.
The cast of The Old Friends includes Tony winner Betty Buckley; Tony nominees Veanne Cox, Hallie Foote and Lois Smith; Adam LeFevre, Sean Lyons, Novella Nelson, Melle Powers and Cotter Smith.
In The Old Friends, matriarch Mamie Borden (Smith) and the remaining members of two longtime Texas farming families await a visit from Mamie's son Hugo and his wife Sibyl (Foote). When Sibyl arrives with alarming news, old friends on opposing sides must confront the issues surrounding legacy, loyalty and the meaning of happiness that have hounded them for generations.
