Odds and Ends: Slash Sets Broadway Debut in The Lost Boys, Julianne Moore to Star in Faydra

Fangs N’ Blood
Guitarist Slash of Guns N’ Roses fame will join the Broadway cast of The Lost Boys for one night only on August 13. The rock legend will make his Broadway debut, playing guitar for the musical number “Have to Have You.” He previously appeared on the first single version of the song, playing guitar with Brian Flores, Sean Grandillo and Dean Maupin. Slash will join Flores, Grandillo and Maupin, along with Tony Award winner Ali Louis Bourzgui, LJ Benet, Maria Wirries and The Lost Boys ensemble onstage at the Palace Theatre.

Moore, Moore, Moore
Academy Award winner Julianne Moore will star in the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s Faydra at Manhattan Theatre Club, directed by Les Waters. This marks Moore’s return to the stage after making her Broadway debut in The Vertical Hour in 2006. Moore won an Oscar in 2015 for her performance in Still Alice. She was previously nominated for The Hours, Far From Heaven, The End of the Affair and Boogie Nights. The play chronicles the events after Aphrodite aims her bow at Faydra, lettings an arrow of love fly. Nothing is ever the same; mostly because the object of Faydra’s sudden, all-devouring lust is her soon-to-be stepson. Faydra begins performances on February 2, 2027 at New York City Center Stage I, with opening night scheduled for February 25. Additional casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Good Luck Charlie
Casting is set for The Public Theater’s world premiere production of Good Time Charlie, written by Ryan J. Haddad and directed by Danny Sharron. The cast includes Timothy Bagley as Lou, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Michael Cristofer (The Shadow Box) as Sheldon, Haddad as Ryan, Beth Malone (Fun Home) as Janice, Nael Nacer (Prayer for the French Republic) as Charlie Sr./Bob, Artemis Pebdani (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Joan/Judy and Jonathan Raviv (The Band’s Visit) as Charlie. Sherz Aletaha, Nicholas Barrón and Doug Shapiro serve as understudies. As a young man, Charlie dreamt of a life on the stage, but his parents thought dentistry sounded better, so he channeled his passion for culture into his nephew Ryan—a fellow theater-loving gay kid with Broadway ambitions. Performances begin in The Public’s Martinson Hall on September 24 with a Joseph Papp Free Performance. The production runs through October 18 with an official opening night on October 9.

Birth of a Salesman
Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott have welcomed their first child. Plaza was spotted with their newborn daughter in New York on August 9 after attending Abbott’s final Broadway performance as Biff in Death of a Salesman, a role that earned him a Tony nomination. The couple starred opposite each other in the 2023 off-Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and appeared together in the 2020 film Black Bear. Plaza, known for Parks and Recreation, The White Lotus and Agatha All Along, revealed her pregnancy in April. The baby’s name and other details have not been announced.

Hello, Lolly!
Mary Todd Lincoln is getting another new face: BAFTA nominee Lolly Adefope will make her West End debut in Cole Escola’s Olivier-winning comedy Oh, Mary!. She will take over the title role at London’s Trafalgar Theatre for 10 weeks, from September 28 through December 5. Adefope is best known as Kitty on the British sitcom Ghosts and recently earned a BAFTA nomination for her performance in HBO’s The Franchise. Her credits also include Shrill, Black Mirror, Saltburn and Wicked Little Letters. She follows Jinkx Monsoon, who dons Mary’s hoop skirt from August 17 through September 26. Escola’s gleefully ahistorical comedy imagines the famously unhappy First Lady as a booze-soaked, stage-struck would-be cabaret star in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
