Orfeh and Karl got together during the Broadway run of Fever, in which she played Annette and he played Joey. Karl proposed shortly before the show's run ended on December 30. "He put the ring in a bucket of Chinese food," Orfeh explains. "I was just picking through the food and there was this little red box. It was completely surreal."
When the musical closed, the pair headed off to vacation in South Beach before she went into the recording studio and he began the Saturday Night Fever tour he's heading on the road on Sunday, February 25. "We were just there on vacation," she says. "But he didn't want to leave [for the tour] with just a `See you,'" So the lovebirds went to the courthouse, got their marriage license and had a justice of the peace marry them. "My best friend flew from LA and acted as the best man, the maid of honor, the witness. he was like 17 different people," Orfeh jokes.
But don't start calling her Orfeh Karl. "It is still Orfeh," she says. "I took everything else, but I'm keeping my name."
