It's official--Billy Elliot: The Musical is heading to the Victoria Palace Theatre. The stage show, based on the acclaimed 2000 movie, will begin West End performances on March 11 after trying out in Newcastle.
Billy Elliot tells the tale of a boy torn between his love of dance and his family. The movie was nominated for three Golden Globes, three Oscars and 13 Baftas. The film's major creative forces--director Stephen Daldry, writer Lee Hall and choreographer Peter Darling--are all working on the stage show, which features a score by Elton John.
The Victoria Palace is currently home to Tonight's The Night, which has announced an October 30 closing date.
