Ann Randolph's one-woman show Squeeze Box will play off-Broadway in the fall. The show, produced by Anne Bancroft, is scheduled to begin a 13-week limited engagement at the Acorn Theatre on July 22.
Squeeze Box weaves together Randolph's personal experiences of working in a women's homeless shelter and of her love affair with the accordionist of her dreams. With just a chair, a banjo, a guitar and her elastic face and acrobatic voice, Randolph paints portraits of the shelter's residents.
The show, directed by Alan Bailey, previously played a limited engagement at the Court Theater in Los Angeles in 2002. It received the 2002 L.A. Weekly Theatre Award and the 2002 L.A. Ovation Award for Best Solo Performance.
