Cherry Jones and Heather Goldenhersh will star in John Patrick Shanley's Doubt this fall. Previews are scheduled to begin at Manhattan Theatre Club's Stage I on November 3 in preparation for a November 22 opening.
Jones is one of Gotham's most accomplished theatrical actresses. Her Broadway credits include The Heiress Tony Award, Our Country's Good Tony Award nomination, The Night of the Iguana, Angels in America, A Moon For the Misbegotten Tony Award nomination, Major Barbara and Imaginary Friends. Her off-Broadway credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, The Baltimore Waltz, Goodnight Desdemona Good Morning Juliet, Desdemona, Pride's Crossing, Tongue of a Bird and Flesh and Blood.
Goldenhersh appeared at MTC in Last Dance. Her other off-Broadway credits include Freedom-land, Good Night Children Everywhere and Psyche at Playwrights Horizons and The Butter and Egg Man for the Atlantic Theater Company.
Doubt takes place in 1964 at a Bronx junior high school run by a formidable nun Jones. Goldenhersh will play a younger nun. Doug Hughes currently represented on Broadway by Frozen will direct.
