Richard Kind is set to replace Richard Dreyfuss as Foxwell J. Sly in Larry Gelbart's Sly Fox, a production spokesperson confirmed to Broadway.com. Dreyfuss is departing the production the week of August 15 to ready for his star turn as Max Bialystock in the London production of The Producers. Two more replacements were announced: Larry Storch will take over for departing cast member Peter Scolari who is heading to Hairspray as the Chief of Police on August 3, and Richard Libertini is set to take the place of Rene Auberjonois as Jethro Crouch.
Kind made his Broadway debut in 2002 when he joined the cast of The Tale of the Allergist's Wife. His other theatrical credits include Bounce, The Big Knife, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, Once Upon A Lifetime, Power Failure, The Seagull, Perfect, Accomplice, Things You Can't Say Past Midnight and True Midwest. The actor is probably best known for his performance as neurotic press secretary Paul Lassiter on Spin City. He was also a series regular on Mad About You and Carol Burnett & Company
Storch is best known for playing Corporal Agarn in the television series F Troop. He has appeared on Broadway in Who Was That Lady I Saw You With?, Porgy and Bess, Arsenic and Old Lace and Annie Get Your Gun. His off-Broadway credits include After-Play, Breaking Legs and Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight.
Libertini has appeared on Broadway in Don't Drink the Water, Ovid's Metamorphoses and Bad Habits. He has played numerous comic parts on both the big and small screens. His film credits include, The Night They Raided Minsky's, The In-Laws, All of Me and The 4th Tenor. He has appeared on television on The Melba Moore-Clifton Davis Show, Soap, The Fanelli Boys, Family Man and Pacific Station.
Sly Fox, based on Ben Jonson's Volpone, opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on April 1 to mixed reviews. The production, directed by Arthur Penn, continues to feature Eric Stoltz, Elizabeth Berkley, Bob Dishy, Bronson Pinchot and Rachel York.
