Allan Knee's Syncopation, which was announced to begin performances at Broadway's Longacre Theatre on October 2, has been called off. The play was expected to star Neve Campbell and Michael Hayden.
"Unfortunately, some of the financing did not come through and it is with great sadness I announce that Allan Knee's beautiful play Syncopation will not get to Broadway this season as we had hoped," Producer Vaud E. Massarsky said in a statement.
Syncopation was to be directed by John Tillinger and choreographed by John O'Connell. The play concerns a turn-of-the-century seamstress who finds love in a Lower East Side makeshift dance studio. The official opening night would have been October 24.
