The first preview performance of Dracula, The Musical, which was set for July 28, has been canceled due to a water pipe that burst during a tech rehearsal at the Belasco Theatre on July 26. The new musical will now start performances on July 29 at 8pm, a production spokesperson confirmed to Broadway.com. This is the latest of several setbacks for the show, which has shifted both its first preview date and opening night in the past weeks.
Dracula features music by Frank Wildhorn and book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. The show, based on Bram Stoker's classic novel, tells of Dracula's lust for new blood and the small band of mortal men and women who must face his overwhelming seduction and mesmerizing supernatural powers.
Tom Hewitt and Melissa Errico headline the cast, which also features Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chris Hoch, Kelli O'Hara, Bart Shatto, Darren Ritchie, Don Stephenson and Shonn Wiley.
