John Cullum will star as Cardinal Bernard F. Law in the New Group Theater production of Sin: A Cardinal Deposed. The show, directed by Carl Forsman, is scheduled to begin performances off-Broadway on October 11 in preparation for an October 26 opening.
Cullum is a two-time Tony winner for his performances in Shenandoah in 1975 and On the Twentieth Century in 1978. He was also Tony-nominated for his work in On a Clear Day You Can See Forever in 1966 and most recently for his performance as Caldwell B. Cladwell in Urinetown. His other theatrical credits include Boys in Autumn, Hamlet, 1776, All My Sons, Show Boat, Old Money, Mr. Peters' Connections, Rose's Dilemma and Wilder.
Michael Murphy's Sin: A Cardinal Deposed is made up of a collage of testimonies of, by and surrounding Cardinal Bernard F. Law, the Catholic leader whose governance of his diocese was questioned and scrutinized when years of sexual abuse by diocesan priests finally came to light.
Sin: A Cardinal Deposed is scheduled to run off-Broadway through December 4.
