Frances Fisher and Harris Yulin have joined Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, Stephen Lang, Linda Lavin, Matthew Modine and Heather Prete as part of the cast of the Goodman Theatre's world premiere production of Arthur Miller's Finishing the Picture.
Fisher's theatrical credits include productions of Fool For Love, Desire Under the Elms, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Orpheus Descending, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Three More Sleepless Nights. She is best known for her work in Hollywood. Her film credits include Pink Cadillac, Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael, L.A. Story, Unforgiven, Striptease, Wild America, Titanic, True Crime, The Big Tease, Gone in Sixty Seconds, House of Sand and Fog and Laws of Attraction.
Yulin has appeared on Broadway in Watch on the Rhine, A Lesson From Aloes, The Visit, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Price and Hedda Gabler. His off-Broadway credits include Raindance, Don Juan In Hell, Arts and Leisure, Approaching Zanzibar, Hamlet, King John, Richard III, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Mrs. Warren's Profession. Yulin received Emmy Award nominations for his guest-starring work in Frasier and La Femme Nikita.
Finishing the Picture is said to be loosely based on the filming of Miller's ex-wife Marilyn Monroe's last completed film, The Misfits. It centers on a distinguished director Yulin who is about to lose his picture due to the unstable behavior of a famously fragile movie star Prete. She's recognized all over the world, loved by millions, but unable to believe in herself. The studio owner Keach is threatening to pull the plug and a temperamental acting teacher Lang is flown in to coax the actress out of bed and onto the set. Fisher will play Edna Meyers, the assistant to the star.
The play, directed by Robert Falls, is scheduled to run in Chicago from September 21 through October 31. The opening is set for October 5.
