Six Feet Under's Lauren Ambrose is set to make her London stage debut in the National Theatre production of Sam Shepard's Buried Child. Also featured in the cast will be Brendan Coyle, Tony winner Elizabeth Franz, Sean Murray, John Rogan Jumpers, Sam Troughton and M. Emmet Walsh.
In Buried Child, Vince Troughton arrives unannounced at the Illinois farmhouse of his grandparents Dodge Walsh and Halie Franz after six years of separation from his family. He has brought his girlfriend Shelly Ambrose to meet them. But his family proves to be a bizarre group that barely knows who he is. In trying to make sense of the situation, Shelly uncovers the deeply buried family secrets that have destroyed these people's lives.
Buried Child, directed by Matthew Warchus, will begin previews at the National's Lyttelton Theatre on September 18 and officially open there on September 29. The production will feature set design by Rob Howell, lighting by Natasha Katz, music by Gary Yershon and sound design by Paul Groothuis.
