Bombshells, the collection of monologues written for Caroline O'Connor by Joanna Murray-Smith, will come to the West End next month. The show, currently running as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is scheduled to begin performances at The Arts Theatre on September 4.
In Bombshells, O'Connor best known for playing Nini Legs-in-the-Air in Moulin Rouge and appearing in Chicago on Broadway inhabits many characters, including a teenager and a young mother. The show has run in Australia and is currently playing at Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh through August 30.
Lyn Gardner of The Guardian wrote of the piece: "Modern woman is here in all her many stereotypes, although who is to say that clichés may not sometimes be true. In fact, they are funny and often touching in these four monologues deftly written by Joanna Murray-Smith and performed with astonishing aplomb by Caroline O'Connor. She's so good, so remarkably versatile, that by the end you've forgotten there is only one person on stage."
Bombshells, directed by Simon Phillips, will officially make its West End bow on September 6.
