Nora Dunn and Lynn Whitfield will headline William Hamilton's White Chocolate off-Broadway. The show, directed by David Schweizer, will begin performances at the Century Center for the Performing Arts on September 21, according to a production spokesperson.
White Chocolate centers on a wealthy, white Park Avenue couple who wake up to discover they have suddenly become black.
Dunn is best known for her work on Saturday Night Live and was also featured on the television show Sisters. Her film credits include Working Girl, Miami Blues, Passion Fish, Born Yesterday, Bulworth, The Last Supper, I Love Trouble, Air Bud 2, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Three Kinds, Zoolander, Max Keeble's Big Move, Die, Mommie Die, Bruce Almighty, Runaway Jury and Laws of Attraction.
Whitfield won an Emmy Award for her starring role in the television movie The Josephine Baker Story. Her feature film credits include Doctor Detroit, Silverado, In the Army Now, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Eve's Bayou, Stepmom and Head of State. Whitfield's New York stage credits include off-Broadway productions of The Great Macdaddy and The Vagina Monologues.
White Chocolate is scheduled to officially open on October 6. In addition to Dunn and Whitfield, Reg E. Cathey, Erik Laray Harvey, Paul Juhn and Samantha Soule will also appear in the comedy.
