Puppetry of the Penis is coming back to the West End with its original stars and creators, David 'Friendy' Friend and Simon Morley. The show is set to begin a three-week engagement at the Apollo Theatre on October 4.
Puppetry of the Penis consists of two naked penis puppeteers, who perform the "ancient Australian art of genital origami" with a series of penis poses. In the show, the duo creates images of the Eiffel Tower, the Loch Ness Monster, the Hamburger and many more. Afraid of not having the best seat in the house? There are no Full Monty-style blinding lights here; a video camera projects every intimate detail of these "phenomena" onto a large screen.
Puppetry of the Penis debuted at the 1998 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The show had a successful stint at the 2000 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and immediately transferred to the West End's Whitehall Theatre, where it ran from September 2000 through January 2001. It has also played all over the world, including off-Broadway.
