The Plymouth Theatre, currently home to Brooklyn, is on West 45th Street. It was built in 1917 and has never had another name. Its history includes mounting of What Price Glory?, Pride and Prejudice, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, The Caine Mutiny, The Odd Couple, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and Equus.
The Royale, soon to be home to 'night, Mother and then Glengarry Glen Ross, is also located on West 45th Street. Built in 1927, the theater was originally named the Royale, and then it 1934 renamed the John Golden Theatre not to be confused with the current John Golden Theatre that currently exists next door only to be renamed again in 1940 the Royale. Its history includes mountings of Diamond Lil, The Magnificent Yankee, The Corn is Green, The Glass Menagerie, The Front Page, DuBarry Was a Lady and The Entertainer.
Shubert President Philip J. Smith will lead a dedication ceremony for the theaters in Shubert Alley in the spring.
