Gregory Harrison will step into the Los Angeles engagement of Chicago. He is taking over for Wayne Brady, who left the production during rehearsals because of a strained voice.
Harrison played Billy Flynn on Broadway and for over a year in the national tour. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Steel Pier and Follies. His other theatrical credits include The Fantasticks, The Promise, The Subject Was Roses, Festival, Child's Play, Picnic, Billy Budd, Carnal Knowledge and The Hasty Heart, for which he won the L.A. Drama Critics Best Actor Award. He has had featured roles on the television series Logan's Run, Trapper John, M.D., Falcon Crest, The Family Man, New York News and Safe Harbor. He has also starred in over 40 TV movies and mini-series including Centennial, Fresno, Nothing Lasts Forever, The Gathering, For Ladies Only, Breaking the Silence, Au Pair, First Daughter and First Target.
Chicago had its first performance at the Pantages Theatre last night, when an understudy went on in place of Brady. Harrison, who is flying to Los Angeles today, will begin performances tonight.
This mounting of the hit revival also stars Bianca Marroquin, Brenda Braxton and Patti LaBelle. It is scheduled to run at the Pantages through February 20.
