Off-Broadway's The Penis Monologues to Close on May 15

The Penis Monologues: Men Speak will end its off-Broadway run earlier than expected, a production spokesperson confirmed to Broadway.com. The show will play its last performance on May 15.

Written and directed by Robert Watts, The Penis Monologues: Men Speak takes real interviews with men and shares their personal stories, thoughts, feelings and insecurities on size, contraception and masculinity issues concerning the one thing they have in common.

In his Broadway Review William Stevenson wrote of the piece, "If you're looking for an illuminating look at sexuality, rent the movie Kinsey. If you want to laugh, rent Woody Allen's Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex but were Afraid to Ask. Lord knows you won't find much entertainment value in the limp Penis Monologues. Instead of being arousing, it's sleep inducing. And if you do stay awake, it makes for a very long 80 minutes."

The Penis Monologues: Men Speak began previews on March 8 and opened on March 11 at the Beckett Theatre. It stars Lev Gorn, Christian Johnston and Steve Luker.
