Amanda McBroom and Joel Silberman's musical A Woman of Will, starring McBroom best known for writing the song "The Rose", will be the next tenant at the Daryl Roth Theatre. The show is scheduled to begin performances on September 15, a production spokesperson confirmed.
Then titled Lady Macbeth Sings the Blues, A Woman of Will had its world premiere production at The Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, California in June 2004. The show tells the tale of a writer in crisis. Hired to finish the lyrics of a Broadway-bound musical version of The Merchant of Venice, Kate faces the demands of an unrelenting deadline in addition to important decisions about her marriage and future. In desperation, she reaches out to Shakespeare's leading ladies for guidance.
A Woman of Will, directed by directed by Silberman, is scheduled to officially open on October 2. It is only the third show ever to be at the Daryl Roth-following De La Guarda and current tenant Manuscript. Manuscript is scheduled to end its limited engagement on August 21.
