The Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market and Grand Auction, which took place on September 25, raised an impressive $544,037 for the charity. That is a substantial $124,573 over last year's take.
This year the silent auction raised $43,380 and the grand auction took in $228,700. The table that took in the most money was the United Scenic Artists booth, which raised $23,865. As usual, Broadway.com had its own table, selling everything from CDs to opening night gifts to posters to ticket raffles. Broadway.com is proud to have been one of BC/EFA's top fundraisers this year-receiving the third highest total of any organization. In the end, we raised well over $9,914 for BC/EFA that figure includes both our table's total and our very successful eBay auction. Broadway.com also provided one of the highlights of the flea market-at our table was a revealing poster of Slut star Andy Karl made especially to sell this one day only. Karl was on hand for an hour to sign the sexy posters-raising almost $1,500 single-handedly for the table.
Thank you to all of the producers, press agents and productions that donated items to our table.
