Alfred Molina to Headline Patrick Marber's Howard Katz Off-B'way in 2007

Alfred Molina will star in a Roundabout Theatre Company production of Patrick Marber's Howard Katz in 2007. The show is expected to begin previews at off-Broadway's Laura Pels Theater in January 2007, according to a production spokesperson.

Molina has appeared on Broadway twice and received two Tony nominations--the first in 1998 for Best Actor in a Play for his work in Art and then in 2004 for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in Fiddler on the Roof. He won a Theater World Award in 1996 for his performance in the off-Broadway production of Molly Sweeney. His film credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark, Not Without My Daughter, Enchanted April, White Fang II, Maverick, Species, Before and After, Boogie Nights, The Impostors, Dudley Do Right, Magnolia, Chocolat, Texas Rangers, Frida, My Life Without Me, Identity, Coffee and Cigarettes and Spider-Man 2.

Howard Katz premiered at the National Theatre in June 2001 with Ron Cook in the title role. The play centers on a middle-aged Hollywood agent who realizes that he compromised his beliefs to stay in the show business game. Father, son, husband, brother, showbiz agent, 50 and furious, Howard Katz throws his life in the air to search for his soul.

Doug Hughes is set to helm the Roundabout production of Howard Katz, which is expected to have a 13-week run off-Broadway.
