Who is America’s ultimate sweetheart if not Roxie Hart? America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders star Reece Weaver will make her Broadway debut in Chicago as Roxie Hart. She begins performances on September 7 at the Ambassador Theatre for a six-week limited run through October 18. Weaver will succeed Korean pop star Ivy, whose previously announced final performance will be September 6.
Weaver is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and professional dancer best known for her appearance in Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Weaver earned her degree in dance from the University of Alabama.
The current cast of Chicago features Krysta Rodriguez as Roxie Hart (with Ivy taking over the role on August 17), Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly (with Lissa deGuzman beginning performances in the role on August 31), Mark Ballas as Billy Flynn, Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron “Mama” Morton, Eddie Cooper as Amos Hart and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine.
The Tony-winning revival of Chicago is directed by Tony winner Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Tony winner Ann Reinking, with a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
