Altar Boyz Offers New Song and Donations to the Red Cross

Audience members at Altar Boyz will be treated to a little something extra from Tuesday, October 11 through Monday, October 18. After each performance during that time, the cast will sing a new song entitled, "Leading the Way," written by the show's composer/lyricist Gary Adler. The full amount of any full price ticket to these performances purchased on Broadway.com using the code KATRINA will be donated to the Red Cross and will directly aid victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Altar Boyz is a musical comedy spoof about a fictitious Christian boy band on the last night of their national "Raise the Praise" tour. The band consists of five talented heartthrobs from Ohio: lead singer Matthew the leader of the pack, Mark a sensitive young man with a deep faith in Cher, Luke a bad-boy with an "interest" in communion wine, Juan a hot-blooded crooner with a passion for pretty girls and Abraham a nice Jewish boy, who's not quite sure how he ended up here. The Boyz begin to question their faith in each other, and must decide if fate is really holding them together or if it's just their extra-firm hair gel.

The show currently features Scott Porter as Matthew; Daniel Torres as Juan, Dennis Moench as Abraham, James Royce Edwards as Luke and Danny Calvert as Mark. Altar Boyz, which won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best off-Broadway Musical, plays at Dodger Stages.
