The Actors' Fund of America will present a one-night-only benefit concert staging of A Wonderful Life, the Sheldon Harnick/Joe Raposo musical based on the 1946 film It's A Wonderful Life, on December 12 at the Shubert Theatre. Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, David Hyde Pierce, Six Feet Under's Lauren Ambrose and The Sopranos' Dominic Chianese will star.
A Wonderful Life centers on George Bailey Mitchell, a man facing financial ruin who contemplates suicide. Before he does himself in, a guardian angel named Clarence Pierce arrives to show him how important his life really is. In the Actors' Fund staging, Ambrose will play George's wife, Mary, and Chianese will play the villainous Mr. Potter.
Carl Andress will direct the Actors' Fund concert version. Tickets for the show, which begins at the Shubert at 7pm, are available by calling 212 221-7300, ext. 133. Tickets range from $75 to $1,000.
