Will live music be heard again during Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular? Yesterday Mayor Michael Bloomberg invited Radio City and musicians union officials to Gracie Mansion to begin negotiations. Former Schools Chancellor Frank Macchiarola served as a mediator, according to The New York Daily News.
The musicians, members of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, walked out on November 2. The union has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against Cablevision, Radio City's owner.
Meanwhile the Christmas Spectacular has been going on with canned music since it began performances this season on November 3. Nothing was resolved during yesterday's negotiations, but the sides are expected to meet again today.
