Atlantic has occupied its space on West 16th Street for eight years. The company's new complex will contain a 99-seat black box theater with direct street access. The productions that fall under the banner of "Atlantic 453," creative for developmental works, will be seen at this new second stage venue.
In addition, the complex will feature a lobby with gallery, nine rehearsal and classroom studios, a scenic shop, a street level box office, dressing rooms, student/faculty lounges and administrative and artistic staff offices. The space is expected to be operational in January. Coburn Architecture, PC; Denham Wolf Real Estate Services, Inc. and Andrew Lance of Gibson Dunn and Crutcher LLP are currently overseeing the renovation and build-out of the new complex. The City of New York contributed a $1 million grant toward its construction, with additional contributions funded by private donors and friends of the Atlantic.
