Adams won the 1994 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance in An Inspector Calls. Prior to that, she won an Outer Critics Award and a Theatre World Award for her performance in I Hate Hamlet. She has also appeared on Broadway in The Crucible, Enchanted April and Match. Adams has a substantial career in Hollywood. Her film credits include Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Father of the Bride Part II, Kansas City, Happiness, Music From Another Room, Mumford, Songcatcher, Wonder Boys, The Anniversary Party, Orange County, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Among her television credits are featured roles on the short-lived series Relativity and Citizen Baines and a recurring part on Frasier.
Modine is a veteran of over 30 films, including Birdy, Married to the Mob, Vision Quest, Full Metal Jacket, Gross Anatomy, The Browning Version, Memphis Belle, Shortcuts, Pacific Heights, Bye Bye Love, Cutthroat Island, On Any Given Sunday and Le Divorce. He earned Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for his performance in HBO's And the Band Played On. Modine was featured in the Goodman Theatre production of Miller's last play, Finishing the Picture.
Schell won the 1962 Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in Judgment at Nuremberg. He received subsequent Oscar nominations as Best Actor in The Man in the Glass Booth and as Best Supporting Actor for Julia. In 1958, he made his Broadway debut in Ira Levin's Interlock. In 1965, he starred in John Osborne's groundbreaking A Patriot for Me, first at London's Royal Court Theatre and then on the Great White Way. His last Broadway credit was the 2001 production of Judgment at Nuremberg. Schell is also a noted director for both stage and screen. Among his most memorable theatrical productions as a director were Tales from the Vienna Wood at London's National Theatre in London and the contemporary opera Cornet at the Deutsche Opera in Berlin.
This production, directed by Robert Altman, is scheduled to run at the Old Vic from February 14 through April 22.
