Stephen Lang will star in the upcoming Manhattan Theatre Club production of John Patrick Shanley's Defiance. The piece, directed by Doug Hughes who staged Shanley's Doubt for MTC, is set to begin performances on City Center Stage I on February 9.
Lang received a Tony nomination for his supporting work in The Speed of Darkness. His other Broadway credits include Saint Joan, Death of a Salesman, A Few Good Men, Hamlet and Wait Until Dark. His off-Broadway credits include Henry V, Hannah, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Awake and Sing!, The Guys and 36 Views.
Defiance is set on a United States Marine Corps base in North Carolina in 1971. Two officers, one black and one white Lang, are on a collision course over race, women, and the high cost of doing the right thing.
The show is set to officially open on February 28.
