In The Busy World is Hushed, Hannah Lahti, a minister and bible scholar, finds her faith at odds with that of Thomas, her estranged, wayward son. But when an inquisitive young writer hired to assist Hannah with her latest publication learns painful secrets from Hannah's past, she spies a risky, unconventional opportunity for reconciliation.
Lahti appeared on Broadway in Loose Ends, Division Street, Scenes and Revelations, Present Laughter and The Heidi Chronicles. Lahti previously worked with Playwrights in 1978 when she appeared in the play Hooters for the company. Her other off-Broadway credits include Marco Polo Sings a Solo, The Woods, Landscape of the Body, The Country Girl, Little Murders, Three Hotels and The Exonerated.
Lahti, who has numerous small and big screen credits, is perhaps best known for her Emmy-winning role as Dr. Kathryn Austin on the hit drama Chicago Hope. Last year she also headlined the acclaimed series Jack & Bobby. The actress received an Oscar nomination and New York Film Critics Award for her performance in Swing Shift. Lahti also directed and starred in the film Lieberman in Love, which won an Oscar for Best Short Film, Live Action.
The Busy World is Hushed is set to officially open on June 20 and run through July 2.
