Karoline Leach's Tryst, starring Maxwell Caulfield and Amelia Campbell, will end its off-Broadway run on June 11. At the time it closes, it will have played 17 preview performances and 77 regular performances at the Promenade Theatre.
Tryst tells the story of how George Love Caulfield, a handsome con man who woos loved-starved women, meets Adelaide Pinchon Campbell, a desperate woman who dreams beyond her mundane world at the local millinery store. Mr. Love has a history of illicit affairs, but after meeting the fantasizing shop girl there is a twist of fate that will change their lives forever.
Tryst, directed by Joe Brancato, opened on April 6 to mixed reviews. In his Broadway.com Review of the play, Joe Tropia wrote: "The combination of Leach's finely tuned script with pitch-perfect performances from leads Maxwell Caulfield and Amelia Campbell makes discovering the answer to that initial question a thoroughly entertaining, if somewhat slight, evening of theater… This play may not be everyone's cup of tea, but audiences looking for an evening's diversion with twists they can happily 'gasp!' along to will be hard pressed to find better than Tryst."
