Theatreworks/USA will present a musical revue entitled If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & Other Story Books as its free summer offering at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Kirsten Childs The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin and Miracle Brothers and Avenue Q songwriters Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx are among those contributing to the project. Tony-nominated actress Stephanie D'Abruzzo headlines a cast that also includes Farrah Alvin, David A. Austin, Nick Blaemire, Aurelia Williams and Carla Woods.
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & Other Story Books is a one-hour musical revue comprised of eight vignettes based on popular children's books. The show will consist of Mary Hoffman's Amazing Grace adapted by Childs, Verna Aardema's Borreguita and the Coyote adapted by Lopez and Marx, Laura Joffe Numeroff's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie adapted by Jeremy Desmon and Patrick Dwyer, David Small's Imogene's Antlers adapted by Lopez and Marx, Susan Meddaugh's Martha Speaks adapted by Arthur Perlman and Jeffrey Lunden, Aaron Shepard's Master Man adapted by Bomb-itty of Errors' Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner and James-Allen Ford, Jon Scieszka's Math Curse adapted by Mindi Dickstein Little Women and Daniel Messé and Kevin Henkes's Owen adapted by Faye Greenberg and David Evans.
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & Other Story Books, directed and choreographed by Kevin Del Aguila, is scheduled to run at the Lortel from July 16 through August 18. Tickets are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on the day of the performance, one hour prior to curtain time.
