Donmar Artistic Director Michael Grandage, fresh from directing the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita, will direct three of the four productions, starting with the world premiere of Peter Morgan's Frost/Nixon, which stars Frank Langella and Michael Sheen opening August 21 following previews from August 10.
For Don Juan in Soho, Grandage teams up again with playwright Marber, who wrote After Miss Julie, which the director helmed at the Donmar in 2003. Marber has adapted Moliere's 17th century classic Don Juan, in a version that relocates this story of an amoral hedonist to modern day London neighborhood. It will open on December 6 following previews from November 30 for a run to February 10, 2007.
Also announced is a new production of David Mamet's The Cryptogram, first seen in the West End in 1994 at the New Ambassadors, that Josie Rourke will direct to open on October 17 following previews from October 12, for a run to November 25. Rourke has previously directed World Music and Frame 312 at the Donmar, and her work as also been seen at the RSC, at Sheffield's Crucible and the Royal Court.
The Donmar is currently home to a revival of John Mortimer's A Voyage Around My Father, which is running to August 5.
