Malik Yoba will star opposite Daphne Rubin-Vega in the New Group production of Everythings Turning Into Beautiful, Seth Zvi Rosenfeld's new play with songs by Jimmie James. Directed by Carl Forsman, the show is scheduled to run at Theatre Row from July 17 through August 26.
Yoba is probably best known for playing Detective James "J.C." Williams on New York Undercover. He also had recurring roles on the series Girlfriends and Thief. He established The Malik Yoba National Theater Company which launched its first production Acoustic Chocolate in 2004. Among his stage credits is a national tour of His Woman, His Wife.
Everythings Turning Into Beautiful, which is being billed as a "musical story," centers on two song writers facing their forties, failures and the possibility of new love. Annabella Sciorra and Bobby Cannavale were originally announced to appear in the play, but both pulled out due to scheduling conflicts.
