Broadway Grosses: Tonys Boost Ticket Sales

The positive effect of the Tony Awards, held on June 11, can be seen in the grosses for the week ending June 25. The Tony-winning Best Play, The History Boys, advanced to sold-out status at the Broadhurst Theatre, jumping to second place in this week's list of frontrunners at 101.50% capacity. Meanwhile, The Drowsy Chaperone, winner of five Tonys, jumped into the top five by gross, earning $1,032,260 at the cavernous Marquis Theatre. Jersey Boys, which took home the trophy for Best Musical, continued playing to more than 100% capacity at the August Wilson Theatre.
