The Grinch Steals the Hilton Theatre for a Holiday Stint

Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! will have a limited holiday season at Broadway's Hilton Theatre, home to the currently running Hot Feet. The family-friendly musical is scheduled to run on the Great White Way from October 25 through January 7, according to Variety. It will run 12 performances a week, a jump from the traditional eight.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! features book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin and tells the classic Seuss story of a green creature who tries to ruin Christmas. Tony-winning director Jack O'Brien molded the piece and, for the past eight years, has been helming The Grinch at California's Old Globe Theatre, where he is artistic director. The tuner is again scheduled to run there this year, playing from November 11 to December 24. He will not stage the show on Broadway however—that responsibility will fall to Matt August, who has previously served as O'Brien's associate director on projects. The show is being rethought for Broadway with more glitz and glamour.

The Hilton Theatre is currently home to the struggling musical Hot Feet, which filled it to only 36.79% on average last week. That musical has not yet announced a closing date.
