The Lord of the Rings Tops 2006 Dora Awards in Canada

The big-budget musical version of The Lord of the Rings was the big winner when the Dora Awards were handed out on June 26. The show received seven Dora Awards, including Outstanding New Musical.

Named after Dora Mavor Moore, a teacher and director who helped establish Canadian professional theater in the 1930s and 1940s, the awards honor outstanding achievements in the Toronto scene in the umbrella categories of general theater, independent theater, theater for young audiences and dance.
