The show presents the story of fictitious duo Kiki and Herb, played by Justin Bond and Kenny Mellman, respectively. Kiki, a seasoned drinker, is a brash, boozy septuagenarian chanteuse with the ability to tell a story as few can, with a bruising vocal style and willingness to do just about anything in the name of "showbiz." Herb is Kiki's shy, stalwart, long-time accompanist, who pounds the keys with a passion and a vengeance all his own. In Kiki & Herb Alive on Broadway, the pair will display their musical prowess with reinventions of songs by great artists old and new such as: The Cure, Bob Merrill, the Wu-Tang Clan, Bright Eyes, Dan Fogelberg, The Mountain Goats and many more.
The Helen Hayes Theatre is currently home to Bridge & Tunnel, which will end its limited engagement on August 6. Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! is set to begin performances at the venue on September 19, meaning that Kiki & Herb Alive on Broadway, which is set to officially open on August 15, cannot extend.
