Barbara's Blue Kitchen Named Final Tenant at the Lamb's

Barbara's Blue Kitchen, a play with music by and starring Lori Fischer, will be the final tenant at the Lamb's Theatre before its demolition. The play is scheduled to run there from July 31 through September 30.

Set in a small diner in Watertown, Tennessee, Barbara's Blue Kitchen follows a day in the life of Barbara Jean, the proprietor of the down-home coffee shop, her regular customers and the lives that unfold over the blue plate special. Fischer plays all of these characters; she is joined onstage by Scott Wakefield, who plays the guitar and provides the voice of the radio played at the coffee shop. The show, which has previously enjoyed regional mountings, features 12 original songs.

Barbara's Blue Kitchen, directed by Martha Banta, will officially open off-Broadway on August 3. A Jew Grows in Brooklyn, which is in the Lamb's other space, is scheduled to close on September 17, prior to Barbara's Blue Kitchen.
