The musical High Fidelity, based on Nick Hornby's novel of the same name, follows the adventures of Rob Chase, a record store owner who knows almost everything about pop music but almost nothing about how to hang onto a girl. Rob's love life, already a broken record of heartache, falls off the charts completely when he gets dumped by Laura Colella. But that just sets him up for one of the top five romantic comebacks ever. The tuner features music by Tom Kitt, lyrics by Amanda Green and a book by David Lindsay-Abaire.
The show, directed by Walter Bobbie, is scheduled to begin its world premiere engagement at Boston's Colonial Theatre on September 26 and run there through October 22. It is aiming to begin previews on the Great White Way in late November and open in early December at a theater to be announced.
