Kristin Scott Thomas to Return to the London Stage in The Seagull

Kristin Scott Thomas will headline a Royal Court Theatre revival of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. The show, directed by Royal Court outgoing artistic director Ian Rickson and co-starring Mackenzie Crook who can currently be seen as Ragetti in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, will begin performances in London in January, according to Variety.

Thomas received Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations for her performance in The English Patient. Her other film credits include Keeping Mum, Chromophobia, Man to Man, Gosford Park, Life as a House, Up at the Villa, The Tenth Man, Random Hearts, The Horse Whisperer, Angels and Insects for which she received the Evening Standard Award for Best Actress, Richard III, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bitter Moon, A Handful of Dust for which she received the Evening Standard Award for Best Newcomer and the French films Force Majeure, Le Bal du Gouverneur, Arsène Lupin, La Doublure and Aux Yeux du Monde. In 2001, Thomas, who was trained at the École Nationale des Arts et Technique de Théâtre in Paris, starred in a Paris stage production of Jean Racine's Bérénice. In 2003, she starred in a West End production of Three Sisters. She returned to the London stage last season to star opposite Bob Hoskins in Luigi Pirandello's As You Desire Me.

The Seagull, set during a turning point in Russian history, involves young Konstantin Crook, who struggles to define himself as a writer. When his mother, the famous actress Arkadina Scott Thomas and her lover Trigorin arrive to spend the summer at her family's country home, their appearance wreaks havoc on the rest of the family.

The Royal Court production of The Seagull will utilize an adaptation by Christopher Hampton, who worked on the version of Three Sisters in which Scott Thomas starred.
